The Mission of Henderson Middle School’s Media Center is to provide literary access and academic support to all stakeholders by doing the following:
- Fostering lifelong learning and promoting academic excellence
- Encouraging students to meet their individual learning potential
- Providing materials needed for users to use information effectively
- Fostering an inviting environment where critical thinking and inquiry can take place
- Providing a collection that is suitable for students and teachers
- Fostering partnerships with teachers to assist in curricular needs
- Promoting a love and appreciation of literacy
Media Committee
The purpose of the media committee is to make decisions and recommendations about how the media center can best support the curriculum and learning efforts of the students at Henderson Middle School. The committee will ideally be composed of two teachers, the media specialist, the instructional coach, a community member, and a parent. This committee meets 2-3 times a year unless a book has been challenged or another need arises.
